Accommodation
and Location
Le Lauvitel, originally a farmhouse
and then a rural hotel and gîte, has been converted
into two adjoining chalets - Khumbu
and Dauphine.
For anyone organising family reunions, commitment ceremonies,
or a gathering of friends, we are able to combine the
chalets to accommodate up to 40 people in the summer
months. |
The
Perfect Location (map) |
| Le
Lauvitel rests in the tiny hamlet of La
Danchère, Venosc France.
If you locate us on a map,
we may seem to be in the middle of nowhere,
but we are actually in the center of everything.
The train station at Grenoble is an hour’s
drive; Lyon and Grenoble airports are less
than two hours away. Geneva, Switzerland and
Turin, Italy are less than three hours by
car. Buses run regularly between Grenoble
and near-by Bourg D’Oisans. |
|
|
| Le
Lauvitel sits at the doorway to the splendors of
the Ecrins
National Park with easy access
to three of the most renowned French ski resorts.
Venosc and the Les
2 Alpes lift system are less
than an 8 minute drive from our parking lot. Access
to La
Grave - site of the most challenging
off-piste skiing in the Alps - and the resort at
Alpes
d’Huez are 30 minute drives. |
| If cycling is your
passion, you can climb the hill at Alpe d’Huez,
ride the Marmotte
race route, or tackle challenging off-road or downhill
mountain bike runs. No matter your experience-level,
Le Lauvitel is THE place for your cycling adventure. |
|
Four Season Paradise
|
 |
Le Lauvitel
Lodge is uniquely situated to provide
you, your business associates, your friends,
or your family with a place to enjoy the
mountains and mountain-related activities
year round.
|
- In the quiet, snow-covered
Winter
months you can enjoy on- or off-piste
skiing, snow boarding, ski touring,
or ice climbing. We are close enough
to major ski resorts to make your
comings and goings easy. And we
are far enough away from the glitter
and lights of the resort scene to
insure a peaceful place for relaxation
and recuperation.

In
Spring,
as the snows melt away and the
waters start to flow, the alpine
meadows and hillsides fill with
resplendent flowers of all colors
and varieties. Spring at Le
Lauvitel is an exceptional time
for personal renewal, spring
skiing, rock climbing, cycling,
and trekking.
|
|
- In Summer,
we sit in the heart of the world-renown
Marmotte
and Tour
de France cycling
races. The Veneon river is perfect
for rafting the rapids and fishing.
The telecabine in nearby Venosc
runs daily to give easy access to
summer skiing, paraponting and downhill
mountain biking. Lac Lauvitel is
a popular spot for a picturesque
picnic or an overnight campout.
And of course, you can climb on
the Via Ferratas or the rock face
of your choice and hike any of the
numerous trails on and over the
mountains.

In the Fall,
as the air cools and the colours
of autumn emerge, you have
access to most of the summer
activities without tussling
with throngs of tourists and
vacation-goers. It is truly
a season to be treasured and
enjoyed.
|
No matter the time of year, you
will find Le Lauvitel the perfect place
for activities and relaxation. |

|
Khumbu
- Generally a catered space,
is a large chalet boasting a cheery
entrance, full bar and restaurant-quality
kitchen. Hot breakfasts, pre-dinner
apparitifs and 3-course dinners with
wine are served in the large sitting/dining
room. Your dining and relaxing experiences
will be enhanced by the ever-burning
fire in the natural stone fireplace.
Three windowed walls open up exquisite
mountain views. |
|
Your group can reserve
some or all of Khumbu's 8 bedrooms.
Each bedroom accommodates double or single
beds; the beds can be arranged to exactly
meet the needs of your group.
Each room has clothes storage space, colorful
spreads or duvets, and mountain or valley
views.
Two loft bedrooms comprise their own small
apartment with sunlit sitting room and private
bathroom. |
|
|
|
Dauphine
- Staying in the adjacent Dauphine
Chalet is like having your own house.
Long ago the central part of the
French farmhouse, Dauphine has 5
bedrooms, three bath facilities,
a sitting room, and a spacious full-service
kitchen with a vaulted ceiling.
|
|
Dauphine's
bedrooms are double and triple occupancy.
Colorful spreads or duvets adorn each bed.
Two of the bedrooms share a balcony on-looking
the mountains that encompass the hamlet.
The sunny sitting room has a foldout bed,
if needed.
Each room has a decorative wardrobe and
window views of the Le Lauvitel gardens
and the surrounding peaks.

Outdoors

|
The
outdoor facilities at Le Lauvitel make it
the perfect place for families and large groups.
We like to say our grounds are three gardens
and a mountain range because Le Lauvitel is
perched among three mountain peaks and on
the edge of the Ecrins National Park. There
is no limit to the possibilities that exist
within a 20 minute drive of the property.
Rafting, climbing, hiking, fishing, and world-class
skiing and cycling venues are at your fingertips. |
Closer
to home, the Le Lauvitel property
boast three gardens that provide the
perfect spots for playing badminton,
volleyball, or table tennis, relaxing
and enjoying your friends and family,
or sitting alone for reading or reflection.
In the warmer months, outdoor dining
is available on the terrace or in
the garden.
In
the summer, the cabane in the main
garden houses the Le Lauvitel bar.
Draft beer, fruit juices, and soft
drinks can be enjoyed with your outdoor
activities.
When
the property is rented for self-catering,
the cabane can be rented for private
functions. A barbeque is available
for picnics in the garden.
Our
large garage gives ample space for
stowing your ski, cycle, or other
sports equipment.
The heating room provides drying space. |
